Key findings

The 2023 report on extremism in Czechia notes persistent anti-Muslim sentiment, with Islamophobia continuing to feature in xenophobic rhetoric, especially within extremist and disinformation groups. Some media outlets perpetuate anti-Muslim stereotypes, often framing Muslim migrants as threats. Although no significant religiously motivated extremist events were reported, the Czech Muslim community largely self-regulates to prevent radicalization. However, it remains cautious of state institutions due to historical anti-Muslim discourse.

Methodology (Qualitative/Quantitative and exact type used, questionnaires etc)

The section on prejudicial hate is based, among other sources, on materials from the Security Information Service and the Czech Police, specifically specialists in extremism from the National Center for Combating Terrorism, Extremism, and Cybercrime of the Criminal Police and Investigation Service, as well as regional police directorates
